LEED for Homes pilot program, various locations

LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the only nationally recognized green building certification program in the United States. Through the United States Green Building Council, LEED is developing the first ever green rating system for single family homes, LEED for Homes®. Following this article, which outlines the criterion for rating the participating homes, will be a case study on a participating project in Emeryville, CA called Blue Star Corner.

This 2500 unit development was designed by sixty architects for a more customized yet economical solution to urban townhomes. It features 2300 patios, common urban space, elevated pesetrian brides, and lush greenery. This project inspired the New Urban Home and is a starting point for our new housing typology.
